For many of us, lessons from others have not only improved our flying but, in some cases, saved our lives. Staying connected with our community is essential, and it has now gotten easier. If you’re a licensed pilot and haven’t joined the NZHGPA WhatsApp Community, now is the time. This streamlined platform unites New Zealand’s free-flight pilots for information sharing, camaraderie, and more.
Uniting Pilots Across Aotearoa
nzhgpa.org.nz is our first port-of-call for information regarding flying in New Zealand. However, in the past, pilots have also relied on scattered platforms, email lists, and word-of-mouth for updates on club activities, busy sites, and safety protocols. Now, with over 1,100 members and 26 subgroups our WhatsApp Community offers a single hub for up-to-the-minute information. Whether you’re part of a regional club or looking for specific flying site details, this community is a powerful tool in your pocket.

How to Join
Joining is simple—just ask any NZHGPA Community group admin to add you, or email [email protected]. Once added, you can browse and join subgroups that matter most to you. Leaving groups is just as easy, making it easy to reduce unnecessary notifications.

This model has been successful in Europe, and we’re excited to improve New Zealand’s flying culture through a unified platform. Our vision is for every club and busy flying site to have a subgroup under this community. Group admins are encouraged to add their groups, making it easier for all pilots to access vital information in one place.
