Coverage Summary
2025–26 Aviation Liability Insurance NZ and Overseas
Insured: New Zealand Hang Gliding & Paragliding Association (NZHGPA)
Coverage Period: 14 July 2025 – 14 July 2026
Sum Insured: NZD 5,000,000 per occurrence
Geographical Limits:
- Covered: NZ, Australia, and their territories
- Limited Cover Overseas: Members flying overseas (excluding USA & Canada) with a third-party liability limit of NZD 3,000,000
- Exclusions: Kiln Geographic Areas Exclusion Clause LSW617H, Click HERE for a list of excluded Countries, which is listed in the policy. However, it also notes that: Any excluded country may be covered by underwriters at terms to be agreed by the Slip Leader only prior to flight.
- Deductible: NZD 1,500 per property damage claim – to be paid by the pilot

2025–26 Aviation Liability Policy Wording
This document provides the full terms and conditions of the aviation liability policy. Key highlights include:
- Coverage: Bodily injury and property damage arising from insured flight activities
- Insured Parties: NZHGPA, its members, affiliated clubs, instructors, officials, and volunteers
- Insured Pilots: Any pilot must be in possession of a current licence and have signed annual membership renewal which includes a medical declaration of fitness to fly (NZHGPA form OPMF00 or subsequent versions)
- Exclusions: Includes illegal use, unapproved pilots, professional liability (except for instructors), nuclear risks, war, terrorism, and more
- Claims Process: Detailed steps for reporting and managing claims

2025–26 General Liability Policy Wording (AIG)
This is a broader liability policy from AIG Insurance NZ, covering general and product liability. Key features:
- Coverage: Personal injury and property damage within the course of business
- Extensions: Includes cover for care/custody/control, Forest & Rural Fires Act, landlords liability, punitive damages, and vibration/removal of support
- Exclusions: Aircraft, hovercraft, asbestos, pollution, professional liability, terrorism, and more
- Territorial Limits: Worldwide except North America (limited to travelling executives/salespeople)
- Jurisdiction: New Zealand law and courts
2025–26 General Liability Insurance NZ (AIG Certificate)
This is a Certificate of Insurance confirming coverage under a general liability policy issued by AIG Insurance New Zealand Limited.
- Insured: New Zealand Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association Inc, including affiliated clubs, pilot members, instructors, visitors, students, and life members with valid flying licences.
